Mining Industry Water Discharge

APTsorb has been in R&D use for the past 5 years at numerous mining sites and with several of the premiere global mining companies.  Support and success has been so strong that funding has been provided to APT for additional R&D efforts, the formation of specific mining industry performance data and specifications studies more specific to the mining industries needs. Copper, manganese, and cadmium testing has been extensive and performance data extensively compiled and full scale water treatment is going into production this spring at multiple sites.  APT R&D efforts have been pushing beyond cation adsorption as we have been attaching functional groups to APTsorb’s structure to bond with other elements such as mercury, phosphorus and sulfates.  The sulfate solution is most interesting to Minnesota’s eastern range mines as they battle the discharge of sulfates and the impact on native vegetation.  APT is working with the NRRI and multiple state and private entities to accelerate the release of a production level APTsorb product specific for sulfate adsorption.
