American Peat Technology is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or professionals with moderate experience to expand their accounting knowledge and skills. There is also potential for future growth into a leadership position.
Generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flexibility. Additional hours may occasionally be required during peak accounting cycles.
Pay starts at: $55,000/year and is commensurate with candidate experience

This position reports to the Controller.
Job Duties:
Manage the accounts receivable process by processing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances
Prepare and maintain payroll files for submission to outsourced vendor
Maintain weekly cash flow forecasts
Complete monthly account reconciliations
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
Manage tax return filings (sales tax, income tax, etc.)
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
Participate in or coordinate special projects and process improvements as needed
Collaborate with colleagues to support APT’s mission and vision
Assist with additional company tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Position Requirements:
Working knowledge of GAAP
Experience in accounting, finance, or a related field; preference given to candidates with a degree in accounting or finance
Willingness to work on-site in Aitkin and attend occasional off-site meetings; some travel required (less than 10%)
Familiarity with ERP systems preferred; experience with QuickBooks is a plus. Ability to efficiently learn new software programs
Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to learn new software as needed
High level of confidentiality and sound judgment with a professional, diplomatic approach
Strong interpersonal communication skills across all levels of the organization (technical and non-technical, internal and external)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, stay flexible, and remain organized under pressure
Excellent organizational and anticipatory skills
